Reccomendations for blogs

I had a good time reading blogs which were made by my classmates and found out that they concerned with some things which I am also concerned. Most of my thoughts you can find in comments left by me in their publications. Such issues like Violence and Sex, Censorship, Reality TV, Gaming addiction problems and Advertisement Influence on person's mind do exist and sometimes are downplayed and misunderstood. But we, as upcoming generation, can make people aware and change something. Great and creative job to everyone who was in the process of creating a blog!

Take a look and enjoy:

Advertising in Our Life - Academic Essay

Yunis Safarov
Advertising in Our Life
We cannot deny that advertising became a part of our life and nowadays it is everywhere. Some people say that we cannot live without advertising because we need leadings and persuasion to buy something and in overall advertising forms our culture. Others think that advertising is annoying and useless and we should avoid or ignore it.
So what is advertising? First of all advertising is a form of Communication, where producer communicates with consumer to persuade him to take action. This could be different types of action. The most common one is commercial offering or as we know advertising of goods to make them sell better. Advertising had a long history beginning with papyrus wall posters in Egypt and Ancient Rome and Greece. Mostly they advertised lost and found and sales messages. There are also traces of advertising on a rock paintings made by Indians back to 4000 BC. But the flourishing period of advertising was 19th and 20th centuries when it found new ways and mediums of influencing on people. One of the major reasons was invention of a print press allowing printing numerous advertisements at once. In the same period appeared false advertising which is one of the bad sides making advertisement look annoying and misleading. In 20th century in USA women already started getting equal rights with men and one of the few jobs available for them was creative processing of advertisements. Advertisers knew that the main customers of household goods are women and therefore women working in their company thing the same way and will be successful in creating persuasive slogans and appeals. Later advertising started using new mediums such as radio in 1920s and commercial television in 1940s. At first there were numerous protests mainly in United Kingdom against commercializing radio as a common source of information which should bring to us only important information. But as we can see it could not change the way it is nowadays. Today we have mass media where information as a one huge stream delivered to everyone and we cannot avoid advertising. Everyone is familiar with annoying pop-ups and pop-under windows in the Internet space. Gaming industry also brought new possibilities to the field of advertisement. It made possible to create computer graphics based advertisement and to broadcast it on special gamers’ channels which are mostly created for purpose of game advertising. Magazines and newspapers are less demanded nowadays which lead to decreasing of advertisement there. The first magazine to publish advertisement on its pages was French La Presse in 1836.
Looking at history of humanity we can conclude that advertising have been present in our life beginning with ancient societies. Nowadays it is everywhere and it is hard to avoid. From my point of view advertising might be annoying and useless but we will not be able to form our culture without its influence. Advertising makes us to buy certain things creating new styles and social portraits. People who work in advertising field are really smart because due to their abilities our minds are easily manipulated. Without advertisement our life would be different and maybe even boring.

I recommend...

Advertising is an interesting theme even if you are not studying it and just want to spend some time finding out new interesting information. Many sources might be really useful in this purpose. If you do really pay attention on slogans in advertising you should visit http://www.thinkslogans.com/slogans/advertising-slogans/ and discover more for yourself. From my point of view, sometimes it is a hard work to create successful and memorable slogans. It also was really to notice that I am really fond of an old retro vintage advertising. Mostly I like it because of a real artistic work in this kind of advertising. I do not really like nowadays computer technology used for creating posters which does not really involve art. So I would like to recommend you an http://www.vintageadbrowser.com which helps you in finding any vintage ads easily. The third web page which is really interesting for me for finding new ad information is http://www.ibelieveinadv.com/. This is a blog where you can find advertising and commercials in English daily. Those are my 3 favorite pages which I do really enjoy, but if you need more information just use amazing Google engine and find tons on information of any kind.

Dangerous Advertising for Children

The article, which was really interesting to read and which actually, breaks the stereotypes is “Dangerous Advertising for Children” written Christine Hurt. We used to believe that scary, violent or unhealthy food advertising are dangerous for children, but the writer uncovers the new type of advertisement which is actually not so good for them. This is – loan advertising. It does not only load up children’s mind with unneeded information but also creates hundreds of questions and misunderstandings in smart kid’s head. Author explains on her daughter’s example when she asked: "When you buy a couch, why do you have to keep paying each month?” The parents usually try to explain such things to their children but they even do not know how. They do not know how to explain 8 year girl the difference of paying 1000$ once or 90$ each month and the danger of bankruptcy. The author tried to explain and examine what could child learn from such and ads and here is her words: (1) financing ordinary consumer purchases is customary for average buyers; (2) one should not wait to reward oneself with fun purchases when you could take that product home today and pay later; (3) many people (portrayed by attractive actors in nice clothes in nice living rooms) get into debt that they cannot repay, this is OK and there is an easy way out; and (4) having bad credit is not an obstacle that one should worry about or try to avoid.
This is a really useful article for people who concerned about influence of advertising on the young generation minds.

Types of Ad Appeals

I would like to discuss a really useful article which I have founded on the articleswave.com web-site which is really good for educational articles. This article does really good cover a really important part of my theme. The article called: “Different Types of Advertising Appeals”. Reading this article you can learn about 19 the most important Advertising Appeal. The author tells us the most important thing about his subject:  “Advertising uses appeals as a way of persuading people to buy certain products. Advertising appeals are designed in a way so as to create a positive image of the individuals who use certain products.” Indeed the aim of an ad-team is to create the best image for the consumers and promote their product as much as they can. They make us to believe that it was created especially for us, and it will help us a lot and we have to buy it. And I have to agree, that in the many ways it does really work!
